South Bay Republican Women Federated received its charter in July of 1938, making our club two months older than the official start of the National Federation of Republican Women. We have members from the cities of Torrance, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo, Hawthorne, Lawndale and Gardena.
Our members regularly donate time to register Republican voters at local city fairs and at the Los Angeles County Fair. We also generously support Republican Headquarters in our district. We are a proactive organization, and our members feel very proud and extremely fortunate to be the South Bay Republican Women Federated.
Many of our members have gone on to serve at the Los Angeles County Federation of Republican Women, CFRW Southern Division RWF, and California Federation of Republican Women levels. Charlotte Mousel, one of our members, served as president of the National Federation of Republican Women. Charlotte joined South Bay RWF in 1957, and the first office she held was as our Recording Secretary . We are proud of the accomplishments of all of our members.
Our group gives three annual scholarships to deserving seniors from our local high schools, and many of our winners have gone on to receive scholarship honors and financial gifts from upper levels of the Federation. Every year we contribute donated books to local high schools under the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project. We have supported two local classrooms of fourth grade students who live in an underprivileged neighborhood, and we also contribute to the House of Yahweh, a shelter for homeless and battered women and children.
We give support to our nation’s armed forces and have contributed to:
